haylee + conner | dreamy minneapolis in home session

Haylee and I originally come from the same hometown in northern Minnesota. We met when we were babies in High School. After school she moved to North Dakota to attend college where she met this sweetheart. After graduating, these two spent a stint of time in Denver, CO where Conner is originally from. They spent their extra time outdoors, hiking in the mountains and enjoying the view with their dogs rev and rookie. They considered Denver their home for a while until they found out Haylee’s mom had become ill. That’s when they decided to make the trip back north to be closer to loved ones. Now all four of them are settled in Minneapolis. Shortly after being back, Conner popped the question during a camping trip they took celebrating Conner’s birthday near tettegouche state park. Afterwards, Haylee reached out to me with the news of her engagement and asked me if I would be her photographer. They decided on a cozy in-home session at their historic brownstone apartment in the heart of uptown. I ecstatically said of course and booked a ticket up. During the session they sipped coffee, played with their dogs, laughed, and enjoyed each other’s company in the comfort of their home. Afterwards, frigid as it was, we had to capture some moments outdoors; so we ended at the Stone Arch Bridge and The Guthrie Theater’s yellow room in downtown Minneapolis.

Not only are they the world’s most down to earth couple ever, but It was extremely wonderful to reconnect with a friend from the past and to see where life has brought her now. 5 years had passed since the last time I saw Haylee , yet when she picked me up from the airport she was as sweet as ever and it felt like we picked up right where we left off.

Haylee & Conner, thank you for opening your home to me, taking me out on the town, and making me laugh all weekend long. The Lakes and Legends brewery was a blast and we will have to hit up that spot again. For the record, It was -17 degrees outside during our session and this bomb couple killed it! Well.. until the very end when conner got cold and hangry and demanded food. Me and Haylee decided that was acceptable, so we went and warmed ourselves up around some asian fusion food at Ginger Hop. If you havent been, you need to go! #polarvortex

creatively yours,
